For comparison purposes, the calculator assumes that a typical in-person orientation or onboarding session requires approximately 4 hours of employee time. This estimate includes the training session itself, as well as the time commonly allocated for breaks and scheduling requirements. In many workplaces, classroom training occupies a minimum half-day shift. Based on Veriforce Canada's experience designing and delivering onboarding and safety training programs, the essential content of many classroom orientation courses can often be condensed into an engaging eLearning format that takes approximately 1 hour to complete, while maintaining key learning objectives. The calculator uses this time difference, combined with your workforce and labour cost data, to estimate potential savings in productivity, labour costs and time away from operations.
